Trip to Oświęcim and visit to the Auschwitz-Birkenau Museum
In Oświęcim, most of the buildings of the former German concentration camp Auschwitz-Birkenau are open to the public. This place, also called the "death factories", is now a monument and at the same time a testimony to the crimes committed by German Nazis during their occupation of Poland. It was the place where the first experiments of killing people using poisonous chemicals took place, where whole transports of Jewish, Polish, Roma, and other people were murdered, and where horrific experiments were conducted on people, where mass executions were carried out. Barbed wire, prison walls, gas chambers and crematoria show how best Nazi genocide in the camp looked like. The camp was the only one to be included in the UNESCO heritage list.
